The first time I attended a yoga class, I felt like it was the most natural thing in the world, as if I had done it all my life. When I started the Dru Yoga teacher training in Wales, it felt like a homecoming. Over the last 20 years, this feeling of connection hasn’t changed. It only gets stronger.
Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word for union, and that’s what it does for me. It brings everything together. It offers me a way to care for myself physically and mentally and to live a meaningful life.
I do more than teach yoga. I also work as an English language coach and help students at the University College Roosevelt enhance their writing and studying skills. Like all of us, I have family and friends.
Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by everything. But, then, I remember my yoga and meditation practice, and I can go on. The wisdom I learn from the Dru Community empowers me. I am extremely grateful for these gifts, and I want to share that wisdom with you.
When people tell me that my classes have improved their mobility, alleviated pain, or helped them feel calmer, it motivates me even more to share these techniques with the world. This world needs more kindness. This beautiful planet and all living things need care. For me, yoga is a good place to start.
